2010 Dance Workshop with Joe Williams

SET YOUR BODY FREE - EXPLORING THROUGH THE DELSARTE METHOD

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

In this workshop, we welcome anyone of any ability, from non-ambulatory to professional dancers. In a playful and fun approach, we will explore elements of universal body language from which dance and all non-verbal expression emerges. We will share how body/mind/spirit shows itself in all parts of the body, building community through common movement until we dance with unleashed expressive joy, affirming ourselves and all others around us. We will use the Delsarte method, espoused by Unitarian minister William Rounseville Alger at the turn of the 20th century, which became the foundation for all modern dance and launched the idea of freedom of the body that ended the Victorian era. Bring yourself, as you are, and celebrate the joy of life, movement, and beauty through dance!
