Theater Workshop With Peter Berkrot

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

The 2010 StarArts Performance Workshop will be a Summer Stock Acting Boot Camp for quick studies and beginners alike. Working intensively for four days, we will hone a 15-minute production. This will be an ensemble-style, mixed gender, broad comedy with a combination of slapstick, creative movement and clever language, culminating in a special presentation offering at social hour on Thursday. At Friday’s final session we will have a wrap-up evaluation party and discuss what worked well, what may have come next in an on-going process, and any other acting topics the group desires. This will probably be prop-heavy so bring any inspired wigs, banners, costume pieces, etc. you may think of. We can make the rest on island. Possible titles may include cuttings of “The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (abridged),” “The Complete History of the World (Part I)” and “The 15-Minute Hamlet.”

INSTRUCTOR

Peter Berkrot is an actor, voiceover artist, director, producer, and runs his own acting school called New Voices-New Visions. His film and television credits include principal roles in Caddyshack, America’s Most Wanted, Unsolved Mysteries, and A Matter of Principal opposite Loretta Swit. He has done stage work with Ensemble Studio Theatre, New Dramatists, and Jewish Repertory Theatre. His voice can be heard on WGBH for the series Frontline and on audio books for Audible.com, Brilliance Audio and the Library of Congress’ NLS Program. Strikingly similar in appearance to Al Pacino, Peter has extensive experience in both improvisational and traditional acting, beginner to professional, teen to adult. A former talent coordinator for Star Arts, frequently-requested drama workshop leader for Star Arts and LOAS, we are thrilled to have Peter back!
